Home Sweet Home

For those who don't know, we are in the middle of building our house; well I am not doing much, but Richard is our general contractor. People said building a house was stressful and I was afraid, but it has not been too bad (occasionally things have been stressful) up until the last couple weeks when we were about to get drywall and someone decided to come in and cut out a bunch of our electrical wiring. Richard had to call and cancel drywall and now we get to wait on the insurance. . . and the electrician to come and redo everything he had already done.

All the yellow wires are cut and hanging down as well as the can light fixture.

This is in the garage where they did the most damage and it is annoying because they had to pull out a bunch of the insulation throughout the whole house to get to the wire out.

For some reason, they decided to cut a whole into one of our window screens even though there are no doors in the house yet and they went right through the garage.

I also just wanted to put a couple pictures of the outside of our house for those people who have not yet seen it.

Here is the back of the house.

I love the front of the house, although you cannot see it very well because of the big fence we have to try to keep it semi-safe.

I will post some before and after pictures of the inside of the house as soon as we get drywall.

That is so exciting your building a house ! Too bad some people are too lazy to get a job and rip other people off instead. Sorry that happened to you. Where is your new house at ?

My mom and I were looking at this this morning and we were both shocked that anyone would do that!! How crappy! I hope your insurance helps out.

Nothing pisses me off more than people who steal! It makes me wonder what is chemically wrong with someone to go into your house and just cause damage for no apparant reason! Jared had his table saw stolen from walking out to put it in his utility trailer at a worksite to walking in the house and back out! People that damage property and steal should be shot, and that is no exaggeration.

Okay..maybe shooting someone is a little extreme...how about a good klonking on the head to pound sense into them.

You should have wrote about the lousy police officer who came to write up the report... that made the whole situation twice as annoying. Hope the insurance company works quickly for you!

Hey, that is so wrong! I hope that nothing like that happens again. I'm so excited for your new house and I can't wait to see it when it's done. Oh, and we are going to CA, can't wait to hang out with you there. I don't think it was me that talked my dad into going. I think it was your dad that talked/guilted him into going. JK! I don't know how it happened but he already changed his mind and said he doesn't want to go anymore because it's so much of a hassle. Well I somehow got him back on board.

Marcus has had that happen in several of his houses--they've stolen electrical (they are going for the copper wire, mostly), pipe (again, the copper), and one time someone (had to have been another contractor) drove his compactor off a lot, onto a trailer and stole it! That's like stealing a car! It's been nuts. Usually, according to the police, it's meth addicts trying to make a quick buck by selling the copper. But Marcus has caught other contractors trying to steal doors and windows! Good luck--sorry to hear it happened to you!
